These pressure treated pine decking boards are 28x120mm, finished in brown, and HC3 treated for above-ground outdoor use. The treatment is driven deep into the timber under pressure, providing long-term protection against rot, fungal decay, and insect attack without any annual retreatment required.
At 28mm thick and 120mm wide, these boards offer a solid, rigid deck surface that is comfortable underfoot and suitable for standard residential joist spacings of up to 400mm centres. Face fixed with two screws per joist, they are straightforward to install and widely compatible with standard decking subframes.

HC3 (Hazard Class 3) is a preservative treatment standard for timber used above ground in outdoor conditions — exposed to weather but not in direct contact with soil or standing water. The treatment is applied under pressure, forcing preservative deep into the timber cells rather than just coating the surface. This gives the wood long-lasting resistance to rot, mould, and wood-boring insects throughout its cross-section.
The brown finish is applied as part of the treatment process, giving the boards a consistent, uniform colour straight from delivery that blends naturally into garden environments.
These boards are face fixed — drive two corrosion-resistant screws through the face of each board and into the joist below at every joist position. Pre-drill pilot holes near board ends to prevent splitting. Leave a 5–6 mm gap between boards to allow for drainage and seasonal movement.
Always use stainless steel A2 or hot-dip galvanised screws with pressure treated timber. Standard zinc-plated screws will corrode prematurely when in contact with the preservative chemicals used in HC3 treatment. Install boards with the ribbed face up where applicable to improve grip underfoot in wet conditions. Seal all cut ends immediately after cutting with an end-grain preservative or decking oil to maintain treatment integrity at exposed grain.
HC3 pressure treated pine does not require additional treatment to maintain its structural protection. Over time, untreated boards will weather from brown to a natural grey. To preserve the brown finish and improve long-term appearance, apply a compatible brown decking stain or oil once the boards have dried out after installation — typically 2–4 weeks after laying.
