Timber Cladding Supply & Install UK
We work as a specialist timber cladding subcontractor directly with main contractors across the UK — supplying and installing Siberian larch, ThermoWood, and Nordic spruce cladding on education, healthcare, social housing, sport, and commercial projects. Full documentation package as standard. No supply-only operation — we put our own teams on site.
Contact Our Commercial TeamIf you are a main contractor, QS, framework manager, or project manager with a timber cladding package to price, this page is written for you — not for homeowners. We are Timber Cladding Specialists, a specialist timber cladding subcontractor based in March, Cambridgeshire, operating commercially across the UK. We supply and install Siberian larch, ThermoWood, and Nordic spruce cladding across all profiles, with our own installation teams, full CDM-compliant documentation, and a track record on named commercial projects that you can verify. This page sets out exactly what we do, how we work with main contractors, what documentation we produce, and what projects we have delivered. If you want a budget, a technical submittal, or a tender return, the fastest route is a direct call or email to our commercial team.

The completed Julian Hill Cricket Centre, Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood — approximately 1,000m² of Siberian larch shadow gap 20x146mm supplied and installed by TCS, working as specialist subcontractor to main contractor Boom Construction. Completed April 2024.
What We Do — Timber Cladding Supply and Install as a Specialist Subcontractor
Most timber cladding suppliers in the UK are exactly that — suppliers. They will send boards on a pallet and leave the installation to whoever the main contractor can find. We are different: we supply the material and we put our own installation teams on site. The two are not separated at TCS — the same organisation that sources and treats the timber also installs it, which means a single point of accountability for quality, programme, and defects throughout the project.
Our commercial capability covers the full package — from early-stage budget pricing and specification advice, through technical submittals and documentation, to mobilisation, installation, and clean handover. For main contractors, this means one subcontractor appointment covers the entire cladding scope rather than managing a supplier and a separate installer who may have different views on whose problem a specification issue is.
We work across three species — Siberian larch, ThermoWood, and Nordic spruce — in all major profiles: shadow gap, double shadow gap, rainscreen, shiplap, feather edge, tongue and groove, and loglap. We also supply and install fire-rated timber cladding and EuroClass B cladding factory treated to EuroClass B (B-s1-d0) where the specification requires it, and bespoke manufactured timber elements including louvres, reveals, and corner boards to drawing.

Read full case studyDocumentation — What We Produce as Standard
The documentation requirement on commercial projects is consistently the point where specialist subcontractors underperform — producing it late, producing it incomplete, or producing it only when the main contractor chases. We produce the full documentation package before mobilisation, not after works commence. For main contractors managing CDM obligations and building safety documentation, this matters.
| Document | What it covers | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| RAMS | Risk Assessment and Method Statement — full cladding installation sequence, hazard identification, control measures, PPE, emergency procedures | ✓ Before mobilisation |
| Fixing schedule | Batten centres, fixing type and specification, board fixing pattern, overlap or joint dimensions, expansion allowances | ✓ Pre-construction |
| FSC/PEFC CoC certificates | Chain of custody certification for all timber supplied — FSC and PEFC as standard on all species | ✓ With order confirmation |
| Fire performance certificates | EuroClass B (B-s1-d0) certification where fire-rated specification is required — KUPRAFUNG FR treatment documentation | ✓ Where applicable |
| Technical submittals | Species data sheets, durability class, BRE/BBA references, profile dimensional drawings, installation guidance | ✓ Pre-construction |
| Manufacture drawings | Where bespoke panels, louvres, or non-standard elements are manufactured — full shop drawings produced before fabrication | ✓ Before fabrication |
| O&M / building manual contribution | Maintenance schedule, re-treatment intervals, product data, warranty information for inclusion in the building's O&M file | ✓ At practical completion |
How We Work With Main Contractors — Stage by Stage
We provide early-stage budget costs and specification advice — helping you tender accurately and avoid specification changes that become programme problems later. We turn around budgets within 24–48 hours from elevation area and species preference.
Full tender return against the specification — itemised by species, profile, area, and installation. We flag specification queries and alternatives at tender stage, not after contract award. Technical submittals available to support your tender package.
Full documentation package produced before mobilisation. We attend pre-construction meetings, agree the installation sequence with your site team, and confirm delivery programme against your construction programme. No surprises on site.
Our own teams mobilise on your programme. We manage our own sequencing, coordinate deliveries around site access windows, work within live environment protocols where required, and flag issues early — not at the point they become critical path problems.
We leave the site clean. Snagging is completed promptly — we do not leave defects open until final account. O&M file contribution and any post-installation certification is provided at practical completion, not months later.
Species for Commercial Timber Cladding — Which to Specify
| Species | Durability | Service life | Treatment | Fire rating available | Best commercial application |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Siberian Larch | Class 3 | 20–30 yrs | None required | Yes — EuroClass B | Education, sport, residential development, healthcare — the most specified naturally durable species for commercial projects |
| ThermoWood | Class 2 | 25–40 yrs | Zero | Yes — EuroClass B | Social housing, healthcare, any project where minimum lifecycle maintenance is a specification requirement |
| Nordic Spruce | Class 4 | 15–20 yrs | Every 2–4 yrs | Yes — EuroClass B | Budget commercial specifications, charred/Shou Sugi Ban finish, garden buildings, outbuildings |
Timber cladding is specified under NBS clause H92 — Profiled/flat sheet cladding/covering/siding. When specifying under H92, the key parameters are: species and durability class, profile type and dimensions, surface treatment (if any), fixing method and specification (face fix or concealed fix system), batten specification, and fire performance class where applicable. We can provide H92-format specification text for any of our products on request — contact our commercial team. See our full NBS timber cladding specification guide for complete clause guidance.

Batten system installation in progress — counter battens and horizontal support battens in place ahead of board fixing. Correct sub-frame installation is as important as board specification on any commercial facade — we install the full system, not just the boards.

Yes — we work as a specialist timber cladding subcontractor on commercial projects across the UK, supplying and installing Siberian larch, ThermoWood, and Nordic spruce for main contractors in education, healthcare, social housing, sport, and commercial development. Full documentation as standard.
What documentation do you provide for commercial timber cladding projects?
Full RAMS, fixing schedules, FSC/PEFC chain of custody certificates, Euroclass fire performance certification where applicable, technical submittals, manufacture drawings for bespoke elements, and O&M file contribution at practical completion. All produced before mobilisation — not on request after works start.
Can you provide early-stage budget pricing for timber cladding packages?
Yes — we turn around budget costs within 24–48 hours from elevation area and species preference. Contact our commercial team with the project type, approximate m², and specification direction. We provide itemised budgets that help QSs tender accurately at early stage.
Can you supply fire-rated timber cladding to EuroClass B?
Yes — we supply and install timber cladding factory FR treated to EuroClass B (B-s1-d0) in Siberian larch, ThermoWood, and Nordic spruce. Fire performance certification is provided with the material. See our Oasis Academy Hadley fire rated cladding case study for a completed project reference.
Do you work on live occupied sites — schools, hospitals, occupied buildings?
Yes — we have significant experience on live occupied sites including active schools (Merchant Taylors' School and Oasis Academy Hadley), where delivery timing, working hours, access, and site discipline all require a higher level of coordination than an empty new-build site. Our teams are PASMA and First Aid qualified as standard for elevated work.
